WHAT I BEAR AND ENDURE
WHAT I SAY AND WHAT I DARE
WHAT I THINK AND WHAT I CHERISH
ALL THE MERITS THAT I GAIN
WHAT I DIRECT AND
WHAT I CONQUER
ALL MY JOYS
AND ALL MY SORROWS
WHAT I AM AND WHAT I HAVE
I GIVE TO YOU AS A GIFT OF LOVE
USE IT SO THAT THE STREAM
OF GRACES FLOWING RICHLY
FROM THE SHRINE
MAY FILL THE SOULS OF THOSE
WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR HEARTS
TO SCHOENSTATT
AND GENTLY LEAD THERE
ALL THOSE WHOM YOU
WISH TO CHOOSE IN KINDNESS ACCEPT EVERYTHING THAT OUR EFFORTS MAY BE FRUITFUL WHICH WE DEDICATE TO THE TRINITY
~Father Joseph Kentenich
Contributions to the Capital of Grace
fuel our Covenant of Love with the Blessed Mother.
The Covenant of Love fuels Schoenstatt
and the flow of oceans of graces from our Mother’s hands.
“Schoenstatt has come about through the covenant of love with the Blessed Mother, which is realized in practical life through contributions to the capital of grace. The shrine will cease to be a place of grace as soon as we stop making contribution to the capital of grace! These contributions give life to Schoenstatt; they generate the flow of graces from the shrine and guarantee the effectiveness of the movement.”
In The Founding Document of Schoenstatt, Father Kentenich wrote, "This sanctification I demand of you. It is the armor that shall do battle for your desires...DILIGENTLY BRING ME CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CAPITAL OF GRACE”. This is the primary and all-comprising covenant demand which the Blessed Mother expressed in the founding hour of Schoenstatt in 1914. It is the hidden power behind Schoenstatt which brought it into existence and sustains its continuous growth. It is also the practical and definitive means to make our covenant of love a lived reality in everyday life. This particular covenant demand acknowledges both the necessity of grace and the necessity our human cooperation with grace”1 The Motto, “Nothing without you, Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen, and Victress of Schoenstatt, Nothing without us” has become the most essential principle and force in our Schoenstatt movement.”
Our striving to make daily contributions of to the capital of grace keeps our souls on fire for Jesus and Mary and allows our contribution and offerings to urge our Mother Mary to direct a special stream of graces into our world, our Church, and our hearts. By our MTA’s powerful intercession, we and our loved ones can obtain relief from sufferings and problems if it is according to God’s will.
Whatever we do out of love of God, for our Mother Mary, and for our mission, can become a contribution to the capital of grace. We can start out with one small act daily and then we can increase our contributions. Performing the smallest acts with the greatest love is our goal! Washing the dishes with love, changing a diaper with love, not salting our food, not gossiping, not complaining, being patient in a situation, trusting God, rejoicing over a blessing, accepting a cross like a sickness, or our limitations, etc. all contribute to the capital of grace
Contributions to the capital of grace keep our covenant of love growing and alive, we grow in holiness, and Mary distributes gifts, graces and blessings. What blessings!
