Here is a view of the wayside shrine today at Transfiguration Center. Charlie and Bob are seen here beginning the work of attaching the cupola which is the top portion of the belltower. Yes, we also have a brass bell which will be installed which I’m sure will be the most popular aspect for the kids that visit the shrine.

Mark continues his work on the stone walkway and it’s coming along nicely. Thanks for all your contributions, I know many of you are starting to feel a real attachment to this “little shrine” as am I.

We had a fantastic work day at the Transfiguration Center this past weekend.  The wayside shrine is shaping up.  We still need the benches, some brick and stone work done, and the bell tower put on the shrine.

Contributions to the Capital of Grace!

Five Ohions were in attendance with Schoenstatt representatives from all over the country in Waukesha, Wisconsin on July 8-11, 2010 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fr. Joseph Kentenich’s ordination.  The weekend began with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Jerome Listecki at the Exile Shrine in Milwaukee and continued at the International Shrine in Waukesha.  Representatives from Ohio included: Carol and Gordy Lis, Tim and Darla Dietz, and Curtis Kneblik

A group of Schoenstatters recently gathered at the Transfiguration Center for continued work on the wayside shrine.  Another work day is planned for Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 10am - Noon.

As the Year of Priests draws to its close there is still a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for our Schoenstatt Fathers.

Fr. Alexandre Awi Mello, Director of the Schoenstatt Movement in Brazil will begin doctoral studies at the International Marian Research Institute this summer. He will arrive in Dayton on May 24 and will stay with the Marianist community located on Franklin Street, across from Emmanuel Church. Fr. Alexandre is in need of practicing his English and also to get in touch with the US culture and mentality. He would be grateful if you could spend some time with him; naturally, he is also eager to meet the Schoenstatt Family and to visit homeshrines etc.

Classes begin on June 7; if you would like to meet Fr. Alexandre and schedule some time with him (any time between May 25 and June 6) please contact Sr. M. Danielle at  Danielle.Peters@notes.udayton.edu

On February 14th, 2010 Sue Bernhold hosted a Schoenstatt Covenant at her home in Minster, Ohio.  Fr. David Zink and Sr. M. Danielle Peters, a Schoenstatt Sister of Mary were present for the ceremony.  It was a beautiful occasion and a wonderful evening.  The group chose,Mother, Guide Hearts in your Hands, as the name representing their group.
